Lisa graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University in 1990 & graduated from Internship at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, in 1991.  She worked full time for the first 10 years of her career, but is now working part time at St Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre, specializing in Diabetes Education.  Lisa also provides nutritional support to the 24 residents of the Long Term Care facility.  She has been a certified diabetes educator since 1997 and has been certified in insulin dose adjustment since 2010.   One passion of Lisa's is public speaking and she has presented nutrition information at numerous events throughout her career.

Michele is a graduate of StFX and completed her internship at the General Hospital in St.John’s.  She has had the pleasure of working in long term care for 26 years and has been a preceptor for dietetic interns for the past 17 years.  
Michele enjoys the challenges and rewards of working with residents with dementia, swallowing disorders and frailty and strives to provide a pleasurable dining experience for all!

Debbie Madore, RD

Debbie graduated from Mount St Vincent University and has worked in many areas of health including acute care, community and long term care. She has always worked in consulting. At this time, Debbie has been working with the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board (CB-VRSB) as the Nutrition for Learning Dietitian since 1999. In this capacity Debbie manages all aspects of nutrition programming for all schools in the CB-VRSB. She coordinates the ordering of food and supplies along with volunteer management functions at the program level; and develops and manages key partnerships, budgets, and fundraising initiatives at the board level.

 

Debbie was an active participant on the provincial task force that developed the Food and Nutrition Policy for Nova Scotia Public Schools and continues her work today as part of the policy advisory group tasked with revision. She continues to work towards increasing capacity for policy by providing supports and resources for healthy food in the school setting. She is currently the treasurer for Nourish Nova Scotia and continues to play an integral role in advocating for school breakfast and child nutrition programs

Shirley Peters, PDt

Shirley works with inpatients and long-term care residents to reach their nutrition goals, maintain hydration, provide a variety of dietary counseling and complete swallowing assessments for those dysphagia patients and residents. She is also currently becoming trained in food safety to train others.

Claire is a registered dietitian who is currently developing nutrition programming to administer through the Better Bite Community Food Centre at the New Dawn Centre for Social Innovation in Sydney, Cape Breton. She also manages the New Dawn Meals on Wheels program and Community Kitchen at the centre. The nutrition program at New Dawn focuses on providing fresh, locally sourced vegetables, fruits, and meats.

Claire is originally from Newfoundland. She holds a degree in Applied Human Nutrition from Mount Saint Vincent University. She has been working with New Dawn for the past several year and was hired directly after finishing her dietetic internship. 

She enjoys hula hooping, traveling, and exploring new new places and new foods. She loves what Cape Breton has to offer and has enjoyed making this her new home.
