I have been interested in food and health for most of my life and feel so fortunate to have a career in nutrition. I graduated from St. F. X. U. and completed an internship at the Victoria General Hospital. A six month backpacking trip around Europe added to my love of preparing and eating real, whole food. My first dietitian job was in community hospital in Belfast, Maine. I then worked as a dietitian in London, Ontario. After 12 years away I was so happy to move my family back to beautiful Nova Scotia. Private Practice and writing nutrition articles kept me current and also gave me flexibility to be home with my growing boys. Now I am excited to be with Atlantic Superstore where I conduct grocery store tours, cooking demos and nutrition coaching sessions. My focus is to bring people back to real, wholesome food and to inspire habits such as meal planning, healthy food preparation and mindful eating.

I love what I do. I am always thrilled to empower and connect with people. I have been practicing as a Dietitian since 1999, teaching and coaching thousands of people on how to lead a healthier lifestyle and adjust their eating plan to achieve their goals.
I was born and raised in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from St. FX in 1998 and proceeded to complete a dietetic internship program at Vancouver General Hospital in BC. I have been working with Sobeys as a community Dietitian since 2001 offering community nutrition sessions and marketing our amazing in-store services.
A true passion of mine is media. I offer regular segments on CTV Morning Live, covering the hot nutrition topic of the day, or demonstrating a simple but healthy recipe. I love receiving emails from viewers that they found my tips helpful or have incorporated my recipes into their favourites. I think that is what all of us Dietitians have in common – we are a caring bunch, looking to connect with people and help them lead a better life. You can’t get a better gig than that!

Living Well Integrative Health Center

I hold a BA from Dalhousie University, a diploma from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy (registered with MTANS), and in 2016 graduated with a BSc in Applied Human Nutrition from Mount Saint Vincent University and am registered with the Nova Scotia Dietetics Association. Recently (May 2018) I completed Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT) with Andrea Lieberstein and Jean Kristeller, and integrate a mindful approach to my counselling. I practice as a Massage Therapist and Nutritionist and am accepting new clients.
Food choices and behaviours are deeply personal and often the reasons for why are unknown. There is no one perfect answer to our nutrition needs; no one diet that will solve it all, we are all unique and our diet needs to reflect this uniqueness. My approach to nutrition counselling reflects my approach to massage therapy, focusing more on the “why” than the “what”. Why are you eating what you’re eating – is it serving you? Once the why is envisioned, a plan for change can evolve, if change is needed. I am an empathetic and candid facilitator, working with my clients to support them as they manifest change. I am a believer of the exceptional benefits of movement for our mind and body, and integrate walking into appointment times - we will walk together, talk, and find your path.

That being said, there is always resistance to change. Which is why it can be a daunting task to try to improve on our own. Michael believes that health and performance are team sports. Terri is a Mental Wellness Dietitian who works with women living with anxiety and/or depression to help manage their symptoms with food and nutrition, so they can reclaim their joy and potential.
After more than a decade studying and working in the field of nutrition, Terri established a fascination with the various ways food can impact the human body, including the brain. Drawing on the evidence to date, her professional background, and her personal experiences living with mental illness, Terri meets her clients where they are in their mental health journey and guides them in the discovery of their personal food-mood connection. She works with her clients to establish a course of action that will both improve their symptoms and work with their lifestyle, while supporting them every step of the way. Terri believes that good mental health is a journey, not a destination. However, having the right tools, resources, and supports for that journey makes the trip much more enjoyable.
Terri holds a Bachelor (2013) and Master (2019) of Science degree in Human Nutrition from Mount Saint Vincent University, where she also completed an accredited Internship Program and defended her Masters Thesis.
