What is one tip you would share for future dietitians?
Take time to really uncover your true passion within this field and build your career around it. I know it sounds like a cliché, but pursuing what you love makes your work so much more fulfilling. Another tip is to embrace being at the beginner stage. Being eager to learn from those ahead of you is a powerful way to climb within your niche. Don’t wait for “the right moment”—just start, and refine as you go. The fear of failure is real, but each step brings you closer to where you want to be.

What has been the biggest challenge you've faced in your career?
Probably the slow pace at which healthcare systems adapt. I’m naturally driven and enjoy seeing progress, so adjusting to a slower pace of change has been challenging at times.

What do you love most about your job?
I get to combine two roles I’m passionate about: working as a dietitian at Dalhousie Family Medicine Clinic and running my own business as both a dietitian and lactation consultant. What I love most is the opportunity to shape someone’s lifelong health. When I support new parents in those early days of feeding their baby, I know it’s laying the foundation for that child’s future health and well-being. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of such an impactful stage in a family’s journey.
