Guacamole

Guacamole is a nutrient-rich and tasty snack option. Avocados are a great source of healthy fats, and are also high in fiber, rich in vitamin B, E and K and have 60 percent more potassium than bananas. Serves 4 - 6

Ingredients

  • 3 medium avocados, halved

  • 1 lime, juiced

  • 1/3 cup red onion, minced

  • 1 small clove garlic, mashed

  • 1 tbsp chopped cilantro

  • Salt and fresh pepper, to taste

Preparation

1) Cut the avocados in half (see video demonstration)

2) Spoon out the flesh of the avocado into a medium bowl

3) Slightly mash the avocado with a fork or potato masher

4) Add lime juice, salt, pepper, cilantro, red onion and garlic

5) Mix thoroughly

6) Serve with pita chips or crackers

Cooks Tip

If you are serving this at a later time, a great tip to keep the guacamole from turning brown is by placing the pit in the bowl with the guacamole and cover.
