Introducing Lynn Campbell

Hants Community Hospital - Inpatient & Long Term Care Dietitian

Lynn Campbell received her degree in nutrition from Acadia University in 1977 and later completed her internship at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. Lynn currently fills the roll of the inpatient and long term care clinical dietitian at the Hants Community Hospital (HCH) in Windsor and has done so proudly for 28 years.

Lynn describes working at the small community hospital as being the best of both worlds. As part of Capital Health she has the clinical support and advice from other dietitians within the district but as a smaller centre she feels a real spirit of community and caring. Lynn also plays in important role in mentoring new dietitians and has created two placements for dietetic interns to learn more about clinical nutrition with her at HCH.

Lynn’s passion for food and nutrition is truly shared with her family. She is among three generations of women in her family to attain a degree in dietetics! Her grandmother graduated with a degree in dietetics from Bridgeport University in Rhode Island and her daughter Sarah graduated with her degree in 2007 from Acadia University.

One food Lynn always has in her fridge/pantry/freezer: I always have blueberries in the freezer...all year long. We don't get enough off our 6 bushes, so we go to a U-pick every August and stock the freezer for all year long. We eat them as is fresh, frozen, or thawed with some yogurt. They're too good to hide in baked goods.

Lynn’s favorite place to be in Nova Scotia: My favorite places to be in Nova Scotia are Scot's Bay and Amethyst Cove. My family has been collecting semi-precious gemstones such as agate and amethyst since before I was born. I'm actually a 3rd generation rockhound. I introduced my husband to the hobby and now our kids, who are grown and on their own, collect as well.

Lynn’s favorite food place in Nova Scotia: One of my favorite restaurants is the Cider Press Cafe at Wheatons, north of Berwick. Their Curried Carrot Soup with homemade biscuit or roll is amazing! Although, I've got to say the Seafood Chowder at the Wooden Monkey in Halifax is also at the top of my list.
