Megan Couturier

Registered Dietitian & Sports Nutritionist, Private Practice

Megan is a private practice Dietitian in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her passion for nutrition is within the Sports Nutrition field, and she is currently working with Cape Breton University to provide nutrition support to their varsity athletes. Her practice also allows her to provide private nutrition counselling to the general population for various other nutrition needs! Her personal interest in sports and athletics is what has led her to this field.  When she is not providing services to her clients or athletes, you can find her in the gym participating in her new favourite sport – powerlifting with Nova Scotia Powerlifting under the Canadian Powerlifting Union!

Where is your favorite place to eat in Nova Scotia?

If you are a Halifax local, you need to check out Izzy’s Bagels on the Bedford Highway. Homemade bagels and cream cheese is the best way to start my day!

If you weren’t a dietitian, what would you be?

I have always said if I were to go back to school, I would double major in Nutrition and Kinesiology since I think it would be so interesting! I collaborate with coaches often during my practice and I am always eager to learn from them. I have also tried to increase my own sports physiology knowledge by reading papers and taking online courses.

What one food is always in your fridge/pantry/freezer?

Peanut butter! I love this spread on my toast, oatmeal, in smoothies and energy bites. It is certainly a staple in my home
