Dietitian, Coastal Sports & Wellness and Saint Mary's University
Sports and food have always been central in Mikaela's life, leading her to pursue both a nutrition and kinetics degree prior to becoming a Registered Dietitian. With sports still top of mind, Mikaela completed a Sports Nutrition Diploma through the International Olympic Committee which deepened her knowledge and scope in the sports nutrition realm. Now, Mikaela works with both individuals and teams at Coastal Sports & Wellness and Saint Mary's University - teams including Football, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Track & Field, Cross Country, and more.
Mikaela takes an evidenced based and holistic approach to food and nutrition, allowing for a client-centred approach to care. This allows individuals and teams to excel and put their best foot forward, both on and off the field. Whether you're a weekend warrior, gym goer, elite athlete, or a team, Mikaela can support you through your health and performance journey.
When not working, you can find Mikaela cooking, in the gym, or watching sports.
What is one food that is always in your fridge/freezer/pantry?
Eggs! I LOVE eggs. With their protein and versatility, what is not to love!
One tip to live by?
Always come back to the basics. Life can get busy and complicated; we don't need to make our health and nutrition the same. Come back to basics, build a solid foundation and you can navigate whatever life throws at you.
What do you love most about your job?
Working with teams. Being able to help guide and support them and seeing the results is a humbling experience. Sports nutrition holds a special place in my heart.
